Aftercare for
Dermaplaning
After treatment, your skin will be vulnerable. The skin revealed by the treatment is new to the world, so it will be especially sensitive for 3 days to a week after treatment. To take care of your skin, it is important you follow the simple aftercare advice we give you.
-
Avoid chlorine for 24 hours.
-
Avoid sun exposure 3 days post treatment; hat, sun umbrella and a minimum SPF 30+ is highly recommended.
-
Avoid facial waxing for 7 days. Avoid Dermal Fillers or Botox for 2 to 4 weeks based on area.
-
No scrubs, polishers, or aggressive brushes should be used for 7 to 14 days.
-
Do not use any products that contain aggressive ingredients like Retinol or harsh acids.
Do apply serums as absorption levels will be elevated.
Aftercare for
Carbon Laser Facial
In order to gain maximum benefit from your Facial Treatment, it is advisable as part of your aftercare routine, that you follow the steps over the next 48 hours:
-
Drink plenty of water and herbal infusions to help flush out toxins.
-
Avoid stimulants, including caffeine, cigarettes, alcohol and drugs. Alcohol and smoking are counter-productive as it increases the levels of toxins within the body.
-
Do not apply products including moisturisers and makeup to treated area for a minimum of 2 hours.
-
Avoid direct exposure to strong sunlight, and do not use sun beds following the use of any oils.
-
Do not undertake any other facial skincare treatments within 48 hours of having a Facial
-
Always use an SPF
Most importantly:
-
You may experience a feeling of tiredness or fatigue following a facial. In some cases, headaches may follow.
-
Aching and soreness may occur within the facial muscles - this is due to the release of toxins and the body’s nerves responding to the treatment.
-
Increased urination or flu-like symptoms (runny nose, coughing) may be experienced, but these will be temporary as the body re-balances itself.
These reactions are normal and show that toxins are being expelled from the body, so that it is rebalancing and cleansing itself.
If you have any urgent concerns or queries regarding the treated area, please phone the clinic for advice.
Aftercare for Radio Frequency Microneedling
After-care instructions for your Radio Frequency Microneedling Treatment:
-
Use tepid water for the initial 24 hours to rinse the treated area. After 24 hours, use a gentle cleanser to cleanse the face for the following 72 hours and gently dry the treated skin. Always make sure that your hands are clean when touching the treated area.
-
It is recommended that makeup or sunscreen should not be applied for 24/ 48 hours after the procedure. Do not apply any makeup with a makeup brush, especially if it is not clean.
-
After the initial 24 hours, apply a broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen with a minimum SPF 30 for two weeks. A chemical-free sunscreen is highly recommended.
What to Avoid:
-
For at least 3 days post treatment, do NOT use any Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Beta Hydroxy Acid, Retinol (Vitamin A), Vitamin C (in a low pH formula) or anything perceived as ‘active’ skincare.
-
Avoid intentional and direct sunlight for 48 hours. No tanning beds.
-
Do not go swimming for at least 24 hours post-treatment.
-
No exercising or strenuous activity for the first 24 hours post-treatment. Sweating and gym environments must be avoided during the first 72 hours post-treatment.
Immediately after your treatment, you will look as though you have a moderate to severe sunburn and your skin may feel warm and tighter than usual. You may also notice some slight swelling, both are normal and should subside after 1 to 2 hours and will normally diminish within the same day or 24 hours. You may see slight redness after 24 hours but only in minimal areas or spots.
If you are concerned about any reaction, please get in touch with your GP as soon as possible.
Aftercare for
Laser Removal
After treatment, your treated area may seem like a superficial burn wound. Some patients may experience whitening of the area (including dark hairs), bruising, swelling, blistering, and scabbing.
Aftercare as follows:
-
Keep the treated area clean and dry during the healing process. If necessary, clean the area gently with cool boiled water and pat dry.
-
Blistering is common after laser treatment and is a part of the natural healing process. If this occurs protect the area by keeping it clean and dry. Do not pick at any blisters.
-
Apply a cold compress, if necessary, after the treatment to help reduce discomfort and inflammation in the unlikely event that this occurs.
-
Do not pick any scabs that form. This step is very important to prevent scarring. Avoid any activity (such as shaving) in the treated area that may cause scabs to come away quicker than required.
-
Feel free to shower 2 hours after treatment but avoid high water pressure hitting the treated area. Do not soak the treated area until all scabs and blisters have completely healed – that means no baths, hot tubs, or swimming this will help prevent the chance of infection.
-
Wear a sun block of SPF 30 or higher over the area for 3 months following treatment. Avoid wearing make-up or creams near the treated area for the first 48 hours after treatment.
-
Itching is common due to the dehydrating effect of the laser. Use Vitamin E oil to help keep the integrity of the skin.
-
If the area looks infected or you have an extreme reaction, immediately contact medical professionals for help.
-
Healing is usually complete in about 8 weeks, depending on the patient’s aftercare, immune system, and level of treatment. Scarring, which can be hypertrophic or even keloid, can occur but is very rare. Loss of skin pigment or excess gain of skin pigment in the treated area may occur but is temporary in almost all cases.
